Problems with Attention and Concentration.
The Solution

What can cause a person to have difficulty paying attention at a meeting or to a lecture at school? Many things. Distress and emotional stress can obviously affect the way a person “processes” what is going on around him. Or, the person may have a genetic tendency to develop the behaviors related to Attention Deficit Disorder. Or, a person may simply have a singular block to a singular subject, which makes anything to do with that subject distasteful. Causes are myriad, so the solutions must be finely-tuned to the individual.

 OUR METHODS

The Davis Attention Program.
For many people the source of the problem with attention is the confusion which arises when confronted with language symbols. Though the person may not be dyslexic, symbolic language can cause a certain agitation in his brain’s ability to process information. The results are frustration and mistakes. What exactly is causing this agitation needs to be found. The causes are as individual as the person himself. We then strive to “settle” the agitation through positively confronting the triggers. The client learns to control his inner world and gains enormously in self-esteem through his successes. A Davis program is 6 – 9 days in length.

Professional services described as Davis®, Davis Dyslexia Correction®, Davis Symbol Mastery®, Davis Orientation Counseling®, Davis Math Mastery® and Davis Learning Strategies® may only be provided by persons who are employed by a licensed Davis Specialist, or who are trained and licensed as Davis Facilitators by Davis Dyslexia Association International.

The Davis Dyslexia Correction program and the Neurofeedback program are separate and distinct programs which are provided in their own distinct contexts on separate schedules.

The Neurofeedback Attention Program.
If there are severe difficulties with inattention or impulsivity, we recommend a neurofeedback program. There are two types of neurofeedback: EEG neurofeedback based on the electrical impulses of the cortex of the brain (EEG Electroencephalography) or feedback based on the brain blood flow, called HEG (Hemoencephalography). Both types have been researched for years in the USA and have become an “alternative” method of persons with difficulties concentrating. A neurofeedback program normally lasts between 20 and 40 sessions.
